Warrenton’s 8th grade girls basketball team captured the state title on March 1, defeating Madras/Warm Springs 60‑52 in the championship game.

The Warrenton 8th grade girls squad won the middle‑school state tournament in Salem, beating Madras/Warm Springs 60‑52 in the final after a 5‑1 weekend record.

The team, made up of six eighth‑graders and four seventh‑graders, has had six players together for five years and also beat Yamhill‑Carlton 52‑40 and Crescent Valley 45‑17 before a loss to Madras on Saturday.
