The San Diego Padres had a rough day on the diamond on Sunday. The question when it was all over is who had it worse, the pitchers or the hitters? Padres pitching allowed nine runs in the 9-1 loss but managed just five hits off Giants pitching. Two of the five San Diego hits went for extra bases, however the Padres did not have another hit after the sixth inning. San Diego returns to the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Ariz. to host the Athletic on Monday at 12:10 a.m.

- Bryan Hoeing was dealing with soreness in his elbow and has been shut down by the Padres. Other San Diego relievers, Ron Marinaccio and Alek Jacob are going to compete in the WBC and are looking to take advantage of a global stage.
