Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi supports recent comparisons between Federico Dimarco and Andreas Brehme.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia via FCInterNews, Bergomi hailed the Italian wingback’s outstanding impact this season.
Federico Dimarco has hit top form in 2025/26, racking up a jaw-dropping six goals and 15 assists in 25 Serie A appearances.
Therefore, the Italy international has established himself as the most prolific defender in Europe’s top-five leagues.
Moreover, the 28-year-old opened the scoring in Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Genoa, slotting home a superb volley.
Cristian Chivu has helped the former Hellas Verona man become the best version of himself after a less impressive year under Simone Inzaghi.
Naturally, Dimarco’s purple patch at San Siro has not gone unnoticed.
Indeed, his electrifying performances have even invited comparisons to Inter legend Andreas Brehme.
Brehme won the Scudetto in 1988/89 and the UEFA Cup trophy in 1990/91, playing a prominent role in both successes.

“If we’re talking about the left foot, Dimarco is ahead of everyone,” Bergomi said. “Then when it comes to how the role is interpreted, you might prefer one player over another,” he added.
“Brehme was our playmaker. You’d give him the ball, he’d switch the play, and whether with his left or right foot, he’d find you on the other side.
“I like the Dimarco-Brehme comparison. Physically, they are average builds, they’re not like Facchetti, who was 1.90m.
“Roberto Carlos was different and stayed too briefly at Inter, if I have to talk about Inter’s history.”
Despite operating on the flank, Dimarco has been Inter’s most creative player this season.
Therefore, the San Siro giants are desperate to extend his contract until 2030.
