A piece of GTA modding history that was considered lost has been rebuilt from scratch and fixed 22 years later

I was too young to fully appreciate game-breaking in the likes of Super Mario and Alex Kidd, so the idea of flying the clipped-wing Dodo aircraft from the runway of Frances International Airport at a very specific angle in order to break the 3D map and wind up in an otherwise inaccessible area—the section which housed the game's opening bank robbery cutscene, floating well beyond the playable map—blew my teenage mind.
In 2004, modder Eliano86 built a bridge that allowed players to more formally access the area with less of the faff, however the project's original hosting platform (gta-downloads.com) has long since disappeared from the interwebs. Now, hobbyist creator Mod_Saver has resurrected that project well over two decades down the line. Enter Ghost City Available.
"For over a decade, this specific alternative bridge mod was considered 'Lost Media'," says Mod_Saver. "The original hosting platform went completely offline, and the original link was dead forever. Even the Wayback Machine couldn't recover the downloadable files. This mod was gone.
"Instead of letting it fade into history, I decided to fully recreate and resurrect it from scratch based on an old 2012 video (GTA 3 - Tips & Tricks - How to Reach Ghost Town by GTA Series Videos) footage. But I didn't just clone it: I fixed its biggest flaw. The original 2004 mod was strictly visual (you would fall straight through the Ghost Town floor). 22 years later, I have finally built the missing collision files (.col) to make the entire island solid and fully playable for the very first time."
Which is pretty beautiful, truth be told. I'm a sucker for game preservation, for unearthing secrets and for the passion that drives each and every hobbyist endeavour—in this case in relation to a game now 25 years old and an OG mod just a few years younger.

Lego enthüllt offiziell seine E.T. das außerirdische Set
Letztes Jahr, im Rahmen der Lego Ideas-Initiative, bei der Lego kreative von Fans entworfene Bauten in den Mittelpunkt stellt und sogar eine Sammlung ankündigt, die zu richtigen und offiziellen Sets verarbeitet wird, wurde eine der Optionen vielleicht Steven Spielbergs berühmtester Charakter und einer der ikonischsten Weltraumreisenden der Filmwelt gebrickt.
E.T. Der Außerirdische wurde in ein Lego-Modell verwandelt und soll schließlich als offizielles Set debütieren, das du auch auf der Lego-Website kaufen kannst. Nun wurde dieses Set der Welt vorgestellt, mit dem Plan, dass es bereits nächsten Monat, am 1. August, erscheinen soll.
Das Set umfasst insgesamt 1.226 Teile und stärkt die Ideas-Bandbreite. Es kostet potenzielle Käufer £119,99/€129,99 und ist ein Modell mit einem vollständig drehbaren Kopf, beweglichen Armen und Fingern sowie einem Topf Sonnenblumen, den er ebenfalls in der Hand tragen kann. Es gibt sogar einen Schalter auf dem Rücken des Models, der einen Lichtstein in seinem Oberkörper zum Leuchten bringen kann, um E.T. s berühmtes leuchtendes Herz zu reflektieren.
Das Set ist 24 cm hoch, 21 cm breit und 15 cm tief, und man kann unten sehen, wie es aussieht.

Disneys planer på en gratisversion av Disney+ uppges, enligt Screenrant, närma sig verklighet. Disney överväger helt enkelt att lansera en helt kostnadsfri version av Disney+, där delar av streamingtjänstens utbud skulle kunna ses utan någon prenumeration. Till skillnad från dagens billigare abonnemang med reklam skulle den nya nivån alltså vara gratis och i stället finansieras helt av annonser.
Planerna ska ha diskuterats under ett internt möte den 9 juli, lett av Disneys produkt- och teknikchef Adam Smith. Tanken ska dock fortfarande vara på ett tidigt stadium och det finns ännu inga uppgifter om vilka filmer och serier som skulle ingå, i vilka länder nivån skulle erbjudas eller när den kan tänkas lanseras. Disney har heller inte kommenterat uppgifterna offentligt.
En gratisversion skulle kunna hjälpa Disney att nå tittare som tröttnat på allt dyrare streamingabonnemang, samtidigt som bolaget försöker konkurrera med reklamfinansierade tjänster som Youtube, Tubi och Roku Channel. Disney+ experimenterar dessutom med bland annat vertikala videor, kortare dramaserier, poddar och ständigt rullande kanaler för att få användarna att tillbringa mer tid i tjänsten.
