UFL Adds Oklahoma City Team for 2028 Season

The United Football League has announced plans to place a team in Oklahoma City for the 2028 season, playing in a new downtown 10,000-seat stadium currently under construction.

The UFL confirmed the Oklahoma City expansion via email announcement on Thursday. While the league didn't specify whether the team will be a brand-new franchise, the move represents part of the UFL's broader plan to expand to 10 teams by 2028.

Spring football continues to face challenges in the American sports landscape, with the UFL being the latest iteration of various spring football leagues over the past eight years. The league has moved most teams to smaller stadiums to address concerns about empty seats, with St. Louis standing out as a market with strong attendance for its Battlehawks team.
