Gattuso is expected to leave his role as Italy head coach after the team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and three names are already in the mix to take over.

Following Italy's 10‑man loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina on penalties in the World Cup play‑off, Gennaro Gattuso is widely expected to step down as head coach.

The two most discussed successors are Massimiliano Allegri, who is currently under contract with AC Milan, and former Italy boss Antonio Conte, who led the Azzurri to Euro 2016 before moving to Chelsea.
