JJ Spaun claimed his first title since last summer's US Open victory with a 5-under 67 in the Valero Texas Open. The 35-year-old Californian made two crucial shots on the 16th and 17th holes, including an eagle that sealed the one-shot victory.
The tournament, delayed by rain, saw Spaun overcome Robert MacIntyre, who led for much of the event. Spaun's victory comes after he had failed to finish in the top 20 in seven starts this year, providing a significant confidence boost heading into the Masters at Augusta National.
