Tadej Pogacar secured the red leader's jersey in La Vuelta's opening time trial by a narrow margin. The Slovenian cyclist, returning to the Spanish race after his first appearance in 2019, immediately demonstrated his potential by winning the inaugural stage.

Following his dream debut, Pogacar showcased his strength on the first truly difficult mountain stage in Andorra, where high-altitude climbing played a central role. The two-time Tour de France champion now aims to maintain the red jersey throughout the entire 21-stage race.

Evans Expects to Play Week 1
