Mets blank Giants 9-0, Holmes and Myers combine for shutout

Clay Holmes and Tobias Myers combined on a three-hitter to carry the Mets to a 9-0 victory over the Giants.

Holmes matched his career high with seven innings, allowing only three hits and four strikeouts, while Tobias Myers finished with a perfect six‑batter out for the Mets’ first shutout of the season. The relief effort was capped by a five‑run fifth inning, powered by Mark Vientos, Tyrone Taylor’s three‑run homer and RBI singles from Bo Bichette.

San Francisco fell to 1‑5 at home after an early run sparked by a throwing error and a quick RBI groundout. The Giants’ offense was limited to singles by Matt Chapman, Jung Hoo Lee and Jerar Encarnacion, and they could not recover from the Mets’ dominant pitching performance.
