McVay Won't Use DPI Call as Excuse

Sean McVay declined to blame officials for a controversial defensive pass interference call that helped the Broncos beat the Rams on Sunday.

McVay, whose Rams benefited from a missed DPI call in the 2018 NFC Championship against Sean Payton's Saints, refused to make excuses after the controversial penalty nullified Josh Wallace's interception. The call gave the Broncos a first down at the 7-yard line, leading to the game-winning score with 47 seconds remaining. truewildgame.online

"It doesn't really matter," McVay said. "It is what it is. That was the call that was made and there was a lot of opportunities that we had to be able to close the door on that game. But I'm not going to make excuses either and we're not going to play the victim card." Interestingly, referee Bill Vinovich's crew called five penalties on the Rams in the final two minutes, a record since 2000, and Vinovich was also the referee for the 2018 NFC Championship Game.
