MacKinnon Becomes First NHL Player to 50 Goals This Season

Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche became the first NHL player this season to reach 50 goals, joining the franchise’s elite scorers. He celebrated with a dramatic knee slide after scoring against Vancouver.

MacKinnon’s 50th goal came early in the first period of the Avalanche’s 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks, with a liner from up top beating goaltender Kevin Lankinen. The 30‑year‑old celebrated by sliding on his right knee while pumping his glove, a signature move that has become a fan favorite.

This marks MacKinnon’s second 50‑goal season and the third player in Colorado/Quebec history to achieve multiple 50‑goal campaigns, joining Hall of Famers Joe Sakic and Michel Goulet. He also ties Nikita Kucherov for second in league points with 121, just four behind leader Connor McDavid.
