Michigan won 13-12 on a Hail Mary pass after the replay official added one second back on the clock. The stadium clock and TV feed both showed zeroes after the first Hail Mary, but the Big Ten relied on an internal replay system clock that still displayed time remaining. amunra.qpon
MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher stated that replay protocol was not properly followed, as the established protocol requires using the game clock displayed on the program feed. 'Had the protocol been properly followed and the program-feed clock been used, no additional play would have been awarded, and Western Michigan would have won the game, 12–7,' Steinbrecher said. The MAC is requesting the NCAA and College Football Playoff to recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner.
