Iowa Pursues Ben McCollum Contract Extension

Iowa AD Beth Goetz said the university is working on a new deal for head coach Ben McCollum following a 24‑win season and the program’s first Elite Eight appearance since 1987.

Iowa athletics director Beth Goetz confirmed to the Des Moines Register that the university is moving forward with a contract extension for head men's basketball coach Ben McCollum after a 24‑win season and the program’s first Elite Eight appearance since 1987. Goetz noted that both parties have been in close contact throughout the NCAA tournament and are “certainly going to make some adjustments” to McCollum’s agreement, with increased years and pay. The current contract runs through April 30, 2031, with McCollum earning $3.6 million in his second year and projected rises each year thereafter. The extension would formalize the university’s commitment to building a championship culture under McCollum.
