The 22-year-old Venezuelan third baseman wasn't on the Diamondbacks' opening-day roster but made the most of his first opportunity. Fernandez finished with three hits and four RBIs, including a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning against four-time All-Star closer Kenley Jansen.
Fernandez joins an exclusive club that includes Chase DeLauter, who also had a two-homer debut last week. 'I returned to my days as a kid — just a dream come true,' Fernandez said through an interpreter after the game.
