EFL probes Sheffield United over £35m payment dispute

The English Football League is investigating Sheffield United's owners over allegations they are trying to avoid paying £35m owed to the previous owner.

Sheffield United's American ownership group COH Sports is alleged to have created a new parent company to avoid paying the remaining £35m owed to Prince Abdullah under their £100m purchase agreement made in December 2024.

COH Sports, led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, reportedly missed payments after the initial £30m instalment. Abdullah's company has issued a winding-up petition in the High Court and raised concerns with both the EFL and the Independent Football Regulator. capturengo.com
