The Montreal Canadiens clinched a playoff spot after a 5-4 loss by the Detroit Red Wings, becoming the first Canadian NHL team to secure a berth this season. However, the win streak ended when New Jersey’s Jacob Markstrom recorded a shutout, with Cody Glass and Timo Meier scoring for the Devils.
