Byström Steps Down as Swedish Ski Coach

Anders Byström has resigned as head coach of the Swedish national cross-country skiing team after six years in the position.

Byström announced his departure in a statement, mentioning it has been difficult being away from his family and that he is proud of his six years leading the team. "With that in mind, I have decided to step aside and let someone else build a team towards the 2030 Olympics," Byström said.

The decision comes after dissatisfaction following the Olympics where Sweden had poor results on the men's side and controversy on the women's side, where only two Swedish women started the final 50km race. Byström later admitted sending home skiers like Linn Svahn was a mistake. Despite this, Swedish Ski Federation head Lars Öberg praised Byström's significant progress during his tenure.
