Banned Swans Excluded from Brownlow Medal Ceremony

The AFL has banned five suspended Sydney Swans players from attending this year's Brownlow Medal ceremony as the league awaits the conclusion of a police investigation into an alleged sexual assault.

AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon confirmed the decision, marking his first media appearance since Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Riley Bice and James Jordon were stood down by the Swans for breaching club standards. The players were suspended for drinking and bringing women back to their hotel. tr-sport.click

The league will not conduct its own inquiry until the police investigation is complete, with Dillon stating, "the way we treat women says a lot about who we are." The Swans initially suspended the players for the remainder of the AFL season.
