Alcaraz Surprised by Sinner in Monte Carlo

Carlos Alcaraz admits he was surprised to see Jannik Sinner competing at the Monte Carlo Masters after the Italian's quick turnaround from Miami.

World number one Carlos Alcaraz expressed surprise at Jannik Sinner's participation in the Monte Carlo Masters, noting the quick turnaround from hard courts in Miami to clay in Monaco. 'I was surprised because he has played many matches in the last month playing on hard court and not having that much time to rest and prepare for clay,' Alcaraz said during a press conference.

Sinner, who missed most of last year's clay swing due to suspension, could reclaim the world number one ranking in Monte Carlo if he performs well, while having fewer points to defend than Alcaraz this season.
